The law degree at Oxford.

A short guide to Oxford's law degree structure, compulsory papers, and options.

Structure of the course and exams

Oxford offers a three-year Course I and a four-year Course II with the third year abroad in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, or the Netherlands. First-year students begin with Mods in criminal law, constitutional law, and Roman private law before moving into compulsory papers and options.

Compulsory papers

All Oxford law students take Tort, Contract, Land, Trusts, Administrative Law, EU Law, and Jurisprudence as compulsory papers for the degree.

Optional papers

Students then choose from a wide range of options. Oxford's current options page remains the best live source for the exact paper list and any changes in offering.
