Tech partner to the Oxford Law Society
Built by Amalgam.
We built this site for the Society, and we're staying on as its tech partner. If you're a student here, that means we're in your corner too.
Why we made it
For Oxford's law students
The Society needed a website, and we offered to build it, not as a one-off favour, but as the start of a proper partnership. The goal was simple: something students actually enjoy using. Quick to load, easy to get around, good to look at. Whether you're joining, checking the term card, or reading a case note, it should just work.amalgam-inc.com
Who we are
Amalgam is a software studio. Since 2012 we've built websites, apps, and the tools teams rely on behind the scenes, for founders and companies who care about getting the details right. We're small on purpose, which keeps us close to the work. Some of what we build uses AI. We reach for it when it genuinely makes something better, not because it's the thing to say. Here for the long run
More than the studio that built the site
We didn't make this to hand it over and walk away. We want to be Oxford Law's tech and knowledge partner: keeping the site sharp, sharing what we know, and being a message away whenever the Society or its students need a hand. The people behind it
Who made it
Two of us did most of the work.Ryan Ward
Head of Innovation, Amalgam · Adviser to the SocietyRyan led this project and did much of the design and build himself. He looks after new ideas at Amalgam and helps the Society make good use of them.Neeraj Vir
Founder & CEO, AmalgamNeeraj started Amalgam in 2012 and still runs it. He decides what the studio takes on, and he's the reason this one got made. What we do
How we spend our time
A quick sense of the work, in case it's useful. We design and build
Websites, apps, and the tools teams use behind the scenes. This site is one of them.We use AI carefully
When it makes something better, we use it. When it's just hype, we leave it out.We stick around
We don't disappear after launch. We keep things running and improve them over time. For students
How we can help
A lot of the best ideas start with students. If we can help you get one off the ground, we'd love to.For student founders
Building something? Email us.
If you're an Oxford student working on a startup, we'll gladly give you free advice. Send us a note, tell us what you're making, and we'll talk it through. For future builders
Intern with us
We open internships for students who want to build real products alongside a small, senior team, and see how the work actually gets made. For the Society
Xeso, at a student rate
Xeso is our platform for societies and their members: tools and knowledge that usually cost money. Oxford Law members get it for less.Say hello
